National School Lunch Week ( "Find Your Treasure") is Oct. 14-18. Pres. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom.

October is National Farm to School Month, a time to celebrate connections happening all over the country between schools, early care and adult centers, and local farms! To kick off the month, Virginians celebrate Virginia Farm to School Week during the first full week of October.
Our schools served Homemade meatballs made from locally sourced ground beef, fresh Yukon potatoes, fresh green beans, fresh salad greens, an assortment of apples, and Asian pears.

Due to the heavy rain throughout this week, especially Wednesday and Thursday, in addition to the anticipated amount of rain and high winds predicted to occur on Thursday night and Friday, Nelson County Public Schools will be CLOSED operating as a REMOTE LEARNING DAY on Friday, September 27, 2024. Continued rain, highly saturated ground, and high winds create an increased likelihood of downed trees and flooding. A Remote Learning Day means that students will not physically attend school in the building but will be working remotely on materials and assignments for class. Teachers have developed and distributed Remote Learning Day work and will communicate with students their expectations for the day. Students are encouraged to reach out to their teacher(s) if they have any questions. The safety of our students, staff, and community is our priority. We appreciate your continued support as we strive to keep our school community safe.
