Don't forget, Tuesday, March 26 is the Youth Mental Health and Substance Abuse Awareness presentation. This is a great opportunity for families to learn more about ways to support our students as one in five teens will experience a mental health challenge by the time they are 18 years old. The event will begin at 5:30 pm located in the NCHS Auditorium. Dinner and childcare will be provided. Please see the flyers attached to RSVP.

Congratulations to NMS student Lailee Pollard! Lailee won 1st place in the Middle School Division for the Central Region Virginia School Board Association Art Contest.
Her piece is titled “Blue” which is a pet portrait done on Bristol board -
Medium: pen and ink - micron pens and various shades of Staedtler pens!
The style is done in stippling ( thousands of tiny dots by hand! )
Her framed, winning piece of art will be on display at the VSBA offices throughout the next year and then rotate to our School Board Office.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Bethany Grooms! She is the NCPS Division Teacher of the Year! Ms. Grooms serves as a CTE teacher at Nelson Middle School working with the Agriculture Science classes and supervising our FFA students. We appreciate her dedication to our students and community and her contribution to building and sustaining the agriculture and FFA programs. She is not only recognized for all that she does by her peers in Nelson County but also nationally through the National Association of Agriculture Educators (NAAE) Teachers Turn the Key Professional Development Scholarship.
