🍎 It’s Virginia Farm to School Week!🍎
October 6–10, 2025
This week, we celebrate the connections between our students, schools, and Virginia’s hardworking farmers who grow the fresh, local foods that nourish our classrooms every day! 🌾💚
Get ready for "The Crunch Heard ’Round the Commonwealth" on Thursday, October 9 when students, staff, and families across Virginia will join together to take a big, loud bite of a Virginia-grown apple at the same time! 🍏✨
Let’s make some noise, Nelson County, and show our support for local agriculture, healthy eating, and our incredible farm-to-school partners!

💚💛 October is NCPS Kindness Month! 💛💚
At Nelson County Public Schools, we believe kindness is more than just a nice gesture; it’s a powerful force that builds stronger schools and a stronger community. This month, we are celebrating and emphasizing the importance of treating everyone with respect, compassion, and humanity.
✨ Small acts of kindness can create big ripples. Whether it’s offering a helping hand, showing gratitude, including someone new, or simply sharing a smile — every action matters.
Throughout October, we’ll be highlighting stories of kindness across our schools and encouraging our students, staff, and families to join us in making #OneNelson an even kinder place to learn, work, and grow.
Let’s all commit to spreading kindness because kindness is contagious, and together, we can make a lasting difference. 🌟

For the past three years we have worked hard to celebrate our students, staff, and community in their role as Champions of NCPS. With so many great students, staff/employees, community members, and organizations involved with and supporting Nelson County Public Schools, we want to celebrate them on our Pathway to Success! Every month, NCPS will highlight individuals who exemplify the #OneNelson spirit.
The #OneNelson spirit embodies the understanding that it takes a collective effort to make our school division and community the best that it can be. We appreciate what our students, staff/employees, families, and community members and organizations do for us and want to celebrate it!
This is an opportunity to nominate #OneNelson members (students, employees, and community members and organizations) who demonstrate the #OneNelson spirit. Simply fill out this form and tell us who you are nominating and why.
Monthly winners will be recognized at the School Board Meeting, division-wide announcement, and through social media.
