The Season of Giving has begun. Today was the first day of the Toy Lift drop-off. This year the Toy Lift will be helping over 3,700 local area children, including NCPS students. Thankful to be part of such a great event and to witness the generosity that makes this season better for students and families in need. Such an amazing group of organizers and volunteers who will work to get the rows of tables filled. We even got a chance to tell Santa that our students should be on the "Nice" list. Thank you for including NCPS! We are thankful!

November 6-10 was National School Psychology Week. We are thankful for the meaningful work that the School Psychologists who support our schools, Chrissy Teora and Nancy Cornell, do to support our students, families, and our community. Chrissy and Nancy spend a great deal of time administering assessments, analyzing student performance data, and guiding teams in determining how to best deliver services to our students (among many responsibilities). Chrissy and Nancy, thank you for everything you do to support our students and our school teams!

We are so appreciative of our NCPS Veterans. We also have many NCPS staff who have family members who are veterans, and they are very proud of them. We want to say THANK YOU to these individuals for their service!

My summer on active duty at Marine Corps Base Quantico was enlightening as I learned a lot of behind-the-scenes workings of the Marine Corps. My summer at 29 Palms, while extremely difficult, was some of the most fun I had in the Marine Corps. Jumping out of helicopters, riding through the desert in a tank, training with the combat engineers (blowing things up), learning how to protect myself in a sand storm, and many more experiences. Finally, one of my absolute favorite parts of my Marine Corps experience was learning self-defense. From hand-to-hand combat to learning to use many types of weapons (my M16 was my favorite), it was truly a highlight.

THANK YOU, VETERANS!
A brief history of Veterans Day:
World War I, known at the time as “The Great War," ended when an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. At the time, this was considered the "war to end all wars." Veterans Day was established to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. By celebrating this date, it preserves the historical significance of this event. Furthermore, it focuses on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
Thank you to all who have served!
