March 4-8, 2024 is National School Breakfast Week! Established in 1989, National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) celebrates how school breakfasts can set students up for daily success. By observing this special week every year, we are recognizing the importance of a healthy start to the day with breakfast to fuel children’s academic success.

INGENUITY & CREATIVITY - The NCHS Wood Tech class created original design birdhouses using a variety of materials available in the Carpentry Shop.
NCHS CTE Highlight on Horticulture:
NCHS offers four Horticulture classes - Introduction to Horticulture, Floral Design, Landscaping, and Plant Production. Horticulture is the science and art involved in the cultivation, propagation, processing, and marketing of ornamental plants, flowers, turf, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. It is unique among plant sciences because it not only involves science and technology, but it also incorporates art and principles of design. These classes are work based learning classes that require students to participate in hands-on, real world agricultural topics and projects. Students regularly work in the NCHS greenhouse, inside, and outside - all year long.
NCHS CTE Highlight on Health & Medical Sciences:
NCHS currently offers several programs within the Health Science fields - Nutrition, Introduction to Health & Medical Sciences, and Nurse Aide. In these courses, students are introduced to a variety of healthcare careers and develop basic skills required in all health and medical sciences. Throughout the courses, emphasis is placed on safety, cleanliness, asepsis, professionalism, accountability, and efficiency within the healthcare environment. Students also gain valuable job-seeking skills for entry into the health and medical sciences field. Students in the Nurse Aide program complete at least 40 clinical hours in a variety of community settings.
