We are excited to welcome our newest Governors to Nelson County High School!
To help our incoming freshmen make a smooth and confident transition to high school, we will host 9th Grade Transition Day on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 8:05 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This special day is for 9th grade students only and is designed to help students feel comfortable and prepared before the first day of school.
During Transition Day, students will:
Meet teachers and staff
Spend approximately 20 minutes in each of their first-semester classes
Learn about high school expectations and routines
Become familiar with the layout of the building
Have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with classmates
Transportation will be provided for students who normally ride the school bus during the school year. Parents and guardians are also welcome to drop off and pick up their students. Breakfast and lunch will be available to students at no cost.
Parents and guardians are invited to join us at 8:05 a.m. for a 9th Grade Transition Day briefing. During this time, we will share important information and what students and families can expect as they begin their journey as Nelson County Governors.
We look forward to having all of our incoming 9th graders attend this valuable experience as they begin their high school journey.
If you have any questions about Transition Day, please don't hesitate to contact the school.
We look forward to welcoming our freshmen on Tuesday, August 11, and are excited to welcome all Governors back for the first day of the 2026–2027 school year on Wednesday, August 12, 2026!
