Jody Coffey, Principal

Dear Parents and Students,

I am the principal at Rockfish River Elementary School.   This will be my eighteenth year in the education profession.  I previously taught in Augusta County and was the assistant principal here at RRES.  I received my bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater College and my master’s degree in administration from Shenandoah University.

My husband, Hank, and I live in Waynesboro, Virginia.  We are the proud parents of a 14-year-old son, Clinton, and a 12-year-old son, Weston.  They are very active in football, basketball, and baseball.  We love to spend time with family and go camping with our dog, Sadie.

I have a passion for education and believe that Rockfish River Elementary is a very exciting place to come to school.  I know that this year will be amazing and I look forward to partnering with students, parents, and staff to make this the best year ever!

Colby Lopez, Assistant Principal

Dear Rockfish Families,

I am so proud to serve as your Assistant Principal! I am a graduate of Nelson County High School (Go Govs!), Longwood University, and Lynchburg College.

My husband, Carlos, and I live in Nelson County with our two daughters, Lia and Liliana. We enjoy traveling and spending time with our extended families.

I truly believe in the Vision and Mission of Nelson County Public Schools, and the drive to create lifelong learners who contribute to society. As a lifelong citizen of Nelson County, I am deeply invested in the betterment of our schools and students. I look forward to continuing to build relationships with the Rockfish community!
