Nelson School Board Appoints New Superintendent

Lovingston, VA – Dr. Martha Eagle was appointed as the next superintendent of Nelson County Public Schools at this evening’s school board meeting. Her new position will be effective July 1, 2018.  Dr. Eagle has more than 28 years’ experience working in public education in Virginia.  Since 2015, she has served as the director of instruction and human resources of Amelia County Public Schools. She has also worked in Appomattox, Amherst and Gloucester County Public Schools.

“I am extremely honored to be selected as the next superintendent of Nelson County Public Schools.  My vision is to work collaboratively with the school board while leading teams of educators, students, parents, and community members to move Nelson County Public Schools to the next level of success,” said Eagle.

 

Dave Francis, chairman of the Nelson County School Board, believes Dr. Eagle will be a great fit for the division. He stated, “We welcome Dr. Eagle to Nelson County Public Schools. Her experience, leadership and professionalism will be a great asset to the division and community.”

 

Eagle earned a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master of Science in administration and supervision from Longwood College, and a Bachelor of Science in business administration and marketing education from Virginia Tech.

 

The Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) assisted the Nelson school board with the superintendent search process.
